Helping children and families in Dickinson County grow, connect & glow.
ABOUT
In simplest form we are a bridge for many people.
- It may be a bridge to community, to a safe place to belong or to additional resources needed for support.
- It may be a bridge to discover something about yourself or to inspire others to use their own light.
- Whatever you are searching for we want to help you find the way there.
As we begin to see the beauty of our own light, we become experts in finding the light in others. Let us come alongside you and help inspire you and our local community to let their lights glow.
MEET THE TEAM
We all have a spark inside us. a gift. a glow. Like fireflies, sometimes we hide,
but the world needs us to be seen and allow our beauty to be discovered.
Brittany Anderson, LMSW, MPA, TF-CBT, IMH-E®
Founder of Fireflies
I’m Brittany or Brit. I serve our community as a child and family therapist and also run Fireflies, 501c3.
Mostly, I love sunsets and walks at Fumee Lake. I believe in the depth of humanness, that there’s beauty in this imperfect life, and I often cope with my own messiness with a little deep breathing, coping thoughts, journaling, and a lot of prayer.
I’m married to Beau and have four boys, one in heaven.
I spend time in our office listening, learning and growing alongside families. You might also find me running to my car to get to the next thing, charger cords might be halfway in my bag, other half flying behind me - chasing my kids around.
I want to change the world. Maybe it’s happening…little by little.
My favorite drink: chai tea from India.
Libby Ryan
Manager & Intern
Libby is our therapeutic office manager, and part/time MSW intern, while also pursuing her graduate degree from U of M and working for the University! All that to say, she is very busy and we are so grateful she’s here at Fireflies sharing her smile and huge heart with us and all Fireflies families. She is usually the first lovely, warm voice you might hear when you call our office.
Originally from Kingsford, she ventured out, traveled, lived downstate, and returned with her husband and two puppy children to grow, connect, glow and serve here in Dickinson County.
Favorite things: the color yellow, bright like the sun and iced Mountain Mochas

Dayna is a mother of three. She is a licensed social worker and therapist. She has clinical and life experiences all the way from infancy through end of life.
After becoming a mother and seeing and experiencing personally what Fireflies does for individuals, she started her pursuit of her own Masters of Social Work.
Fun fact: Dayna is a certified prenatal yoga instructor and teaches Silver Sneakers classes.
Dayna realized the importance of mind/body connection during her pregnancy with her son.

Our mission aims to help foster resilient families and individuals.
Mission
What is our mission?
We exist because parents and children need to be connected. We need meaningful, supportive relationships. Fireflies provides a way to bridge the gap between families' needs and the support connections provide.
Classes
what do we teach?
The classes we offer are need based for our local community and are volunteer and funding supported individually.
Fireflies has offered (and is currently offering) an ever changing array of classes. This has included infant nurturing touch, support groups, (including Her Story, Our Story, Women Helping Women,) prenatal & postnatal classes, prenatal yoga classes, developmental playgroups for young children, and specialized therapy support for young families.
Services
how can we connect with you?
Sometimes more than community connection is needed and Beyond Fireflies is able to provide additional professional services for just that. Additional information about appointment availability for Beyond Fireflies is coming soon.
